Job – Room Supervisor (Rainbow Room- 1 to 2 year olds)

Start date –September 2026
Salary – based on Qualification and Experience
Minimum Qualification – Level 3 in Childcare, minimum 3 years’ experience in 
an Early Years setting.
All year round – minimum 30 hours per week. (negotiable for the right candidate)
Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 7.45am to 5pm.


Ormesby Playgroup has been in the village of Ormesby St Margaret for over 30 years.
It started as a parent run playgroup in the local village hall.
In 1998 the playgroup registered as a Charity
In 2002 the move to a purpose-built unit in the grounds of Ormesby Infants School came with a new name 
‘Ormesby Pre-School’. The new site enabled the Pre-School to grow and develop further, now operating 
7.45am to 5pm, five days a week, forty-nine weeks of the year.
We are continually developing our Pre-School to meet the growing needs of our children and their families. 
In 2018 we lowered our age range to 12 months. 


We are a friendly Pre-School in a rural setting providing care for children from 12 months to 4 years, which 
extends to 11 years within our out of hours provision. We are a passionate team that provide a wide range of 
exciting and challenging experiences for the children. This is achieved through ‘free-flow’ play and adult led 
activities.


We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and passionate individual to join our team as a Room 
Supervisor.


Main Job description

  • To support the Manager.

  • To undertake a room supervisor role

    • By leading and managing the staff within your allocated room and organise their daily work duties 

    • accordingly.

    • By organizing and carry out staff meetings for your room.

    • By being responsible for the planning and evaluation of the daily and weekly plans

    • To enjoy and be passionate about working with children, and passing this on to your room staff

    • As a key person be responsible for completion of tapestry and overseeing your room staff’s tapestry. 

    • Observing and planning activities for key children’s next steps and supporting room staff with this 

    • too.

    • Engaging with the families of your key-children and supporting other members of staff with this.

    • Engaging in play activities with the children and provide good role-modelling for staff and children.

  • To carry out the requirements of the EYFS framework. 

  • To help facilitate and ensure smooth running of the Pre-school.

  • To have regular meetings with the Management team 

  • To oversee visitors on site – such as OFSTED and other professionals

  • To assist in organising and running Pre-School events.

  • To be able to work at short notice if other colleagues are absent and stay late if required.

  • To assist in the process of updating policies.


We are committed to safeguarding the children in our care and appointment to this position is subject to the 
enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service plus two references.
Safeguarding and First Aid training would be desirable.
